Traveling in and around the Bodrum peninsular is wonderfully
easy due to bus services known as the dolmus. As long as you know the colour
of the dolmus going to the area you need you won't have any problems. There
are no bus stops, as soon as you see the dolmus you need, just put your hand
out and it will stop, once on board pay the driver the amount advertised (usually
on the windscreen), when you see where you want to get off just shout stop,
it really is that easy! The main dolmus station (otogar) can be found in the
centre of Bodrum near the market. Fares start from about 1.5 YTL (about 65
pence) and will take you to all the surrounding areas of Bodrum. Schedules
below are for the summer season (May-October) and show when they run and approximate

Bitez
-
Small, quieter resort with a fine shingle beach and shallow waters. The village
itself has a rural charm and relaxed atmosphere and it set around a pretty
bay. Here you will find beach-front restaurants and little market stalls,
an overall relaxing less hectic resort.
Gumbet -
A buzzing vibrant resort famous for its "Bar Street". An abundance
of bars and restaurants can be found here and, surprisingly, the restaurants
along the beach-front appear to be cheaper than those in the main high street.
The beach is a long narrow strip with sun beds and umbrellas ( usually at
no charge if you purchase something from one of the adjacent restaurants).
There are a variety of water sports on offer here including ringos, banana
boat rides, water skiing, wake- boarding, parasailing and for the truly "crazy"
ones of you, there is the "flying fish" ride! You have to see it
to believe it!
Torba -
Once again this is a smaller resort with much more of a rural feel to it.
Surrounded by hills and pine forests this small fishing village has a tiny
beach including diving platforms. There are a handful of restaurants specializing
in seafood dishes along the waters edge, shops, cafes and bars.
Turgutreis -
Most famous for its huge Saturday market and new marina. Dine in one of the
restaurants along the beachfront promenade and watch the incredible sunsets
as night-time falls. Narrow shingle beach gently shelving into the clear turquoise
water. A variety of family friendly restaurants can be found here as well
as in the resort itself. Good shops and supermarkets as well as the harbour
offering trips to Kos.
Car/Motorcycle
Rental.
A multitude of car and motor-cycle rental agencies are to
be found in Bodrum and all the surrounding resorts. We will, hopefully, be
negotiating preferential rates for our customers in the near future and will
post the rates on this page as soon as possible.
